Tonight is the last of this season’s Premier League 6-a-side competitions and it promises to be one of the best yet. Here are this evening’s two fixtures:
Defeat at The Emirates tonight would earn Wigan the dubious honour of being the first Premier League team to win the FA Cup and be relegated in the same season. Wigan were heroic at Wembley on Saturday and they will need a repeat performance to derail Arsenal’s assault on a Champions League qualifying berth. The bookmakers make Martinez’s men a top price of 1/20 to be relegated; the Latics have defied the odds on countless occasions in the past, can they do so again tonight?
Roberto Mancini’s sacking has added extra spice to Manchester City’s trip to Reading. City were woeful against Wigan with complacency seemingly responsible for their collapse. As a result the Sheikhs decided to rattle and roll Mancini out of City, although the weight of money prior to the FA Cup final for Manuel Pellegrini to be the next City manager suggests their minds were already made up. Money usually talks, but perhaps the City hierarchy should look closer to home for Mancini’s replacement; rumours that a newly retired Scottish gentleman residing in Manchester is already getting restless are yet to be confirmed!
