Premier League 13/14 Gameweek 10 Preview
Gameeek 9 Round-Up:
It’s about that time when you should be frantically searching for your next fantasy football acquisition and WhoScored.com are back with their tipster ahead of match week 10 in the Premier League, first detailing the stat leaders from last weekend’s fixtures.
We saw the first perfect 10 rating of the season in gameweek 9, with a superb Luis Suarez hat-trick helping Liverpool to a comfortable 4-1 win over West Brom. The Uruguayan’s closest rival in the ratings was Cardiff keeper David Marshall (9.35), who put somewhat of a nightmare display against Chelsea behind him to make 10 saves as the Welsh side kept a clean sheet at Norwich.
It’s little surprise that Suarez had the most attempts at goal last weekend (8), while Norwich’s Robert Snodgrass created 8 chances to no avail as the aforementioned Marshall kept the Canaries at bay. Elsewhere Andros Townsend continued his trend of completing the most dribbles, with 9 last weekend in Spurs’ narrow victory over Hull.
There was a three-way tie atop the tackles leaderboard once again last time out, with Ashley Cole, Kieran Gibbs and Lucas Leiva this time sharing the accolade with 8 apiece. Meanwhile, when it came to interceptions Palace centre-back Damien Delaney was out in front with 9 against Arsenal.
Gameweek 10 Suggested XI:

Artur Boruc
Stoke have scored just twice at home this season, the fewest in the league, and host a Southampton side boasting the best defensive record thus far (3 conceded). Artur Boruc will be confident of a 7th clean sheet of the season in turn, with only Tottenham conceding fewer shots on the road thus far (47).
Billy Jones
No side have scored fewer goals away from home than Palace this season (2), so West Brom will be confident of another positive result at home this weekend. The Baggies have conceded just 4 goals at the Hawthorns this season, with only Man City and Southampton conceding fewer shots in home matches thus far (41). Jones offers a threat on the right side having completed 1.6 dribbles per game this season.
John Terry
Chelsea have only conceded 3 goals away from home this season and face a Newcastle side that are likely to be tired following 120 minutes of cup action against City on Wednesday. In turn the Blues will be confident of picking up another clean sheet having done so in 5 of their last 7 matches at St. James' Park, with captain John Terry starting the season in fine form.
Ron Vlaar
Villa will fancy their chances against a West Ham side that still lack a recognised striker and failed to score in their fifth game this season last weekend. The Hammers have netted just 3 times in the last 5 meetings between the sides and Lambert's men have kept back to back clean sheets on the road, with Vlaar hoping to marshal his side to another on Saturday.
Curtis Davies
Sunderland's confidence may be on the rise but they travel to a Hull side that have built their early season success on a strong defence. Indeed, unbeaten at home, Steve Bruce's side have conceded just once at the KC Stadium and would have kept another clean sheet at Spurs last weekend were it not for a dubious penalty. With the Black Cats scoring just twice on the road thus far, Curtis Davies will hope to continue his impressive start with his new club.
Mesut Ozil
In what it is undoubtedly the game of the weekend, top of the table Arsenal host third place Liverpool. Although the Reds have had a great start to the season they haven't kept a clean sheet in 6 league matches and have, in fact, only conceded fewer shots per game away from home than Fulham and Cardiff (18). With that in mind it's no surprise that Arsenal are tipped to create many scoring chances in WhoScored's match forecast and of all players in the league only Silva has created more per game than Ozil (3.5).
Jonathan De Guzman
In the first ever Welsh derby in the Premier League, Cardiff host Swansea having conceded more shots than any other team this season (174). In WhoScored.com's match forecast the Swans are deemed 'very likely' to score from a long shot, with Jonathan De Guzman having struck twice from distance in six starts over the league and Europa League thus far.
David Silva
Although they suffered a shock defeat in their last meeting against Chris Hughton's men, City tend to score hatfuls of goals against Norwich and the WhoScored.com match forecast suggests that should continue. The hosts are seen as 'extremely likely' to score from both a wing play situation and as a result of a through ball, and David Silva has picked up an assist in each of his 3 starts against the Canaries.
Sergio Aguero
Manchester City have scored 17 times against Norwich in just 4 games since the Canaries returned to the top-flight and the visitors face the in-form Sergio Aguero this weekend. Argentine has scored 4 goals and picked up 1 assist in 3 starts against the East Anglian outfit and with 9 goals in his last 7 appearances the forward is a must have this week.
Wayne Rooney
With 6 goals in his 9 starts for Manchester United in all competitions this season, Wayne Rooney is in fine form and faces a favourable foe this weekend. The England international has scored 8 goals in his last 8 starts against Fulham in the league and cup, and 11 in total against the Cottagers in his career.
Romelu Lukaku
Everton host Tottenham in what is likely to be an entertaining encounter at Goodison Park. Three of the last four meetings between the sides in Merseyside have seen both teams score, with the Toffees bagging 7 in those match-ups. Martinez's side have scored in each of their last 6 league matches (12 in that time), with Lukaku having netted 5 in his first 5 games for the club.
